Brief Description
Issued by the Daily Telegraph and Hawke's Bay Herald with the co-operation of Messrs Ball and Company and Messrs Swailes and Company at Napier on February 4, 1931 following the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February. The paper reports on the catastrophe - the earthquake and fire with many fatalities and of people trapped in buildings in Hastings. It includes a death roll, a list of the injured and the committees organised to help with the earthquake relief. These include sanitation and water, demolition and safety, food distribution and shelter.
