Charles Keeping was born in 1924 in Lambeth Walk and his first jobs were in the printing trade and the engineering and gas industries. In the last war he served with the Royal Navy as a telegraphist and afterwards studied art at the Polytechnic, Regent Street. At present his prints are mainly concerned with work horses in and around the back streets of South-East and East London. He has illustrated a number of books, and his work has been purchased by the Victoria and Albert museum, the London County Council, and the South London Art Gallery. He is represented in many educational collections, including Derby, Coventry, Wakefield and Nottingham, and is the Secretary of the Senefolder Club, founded in 1910 as an association of artist lithographers., Label, Typed
