Pictorial map of Lake Taupo, showing areas from Turangi, Lake Rotopounamu, Tieke Falls to Whangamata Road.
Features visible are the navigation lights, rocks, depth contours around the lake, rivers, mountains and roads. At the top of the map is historical information about the early inhabitants of Taupo and early Pākehā. There are various other descriptions around the map about early Māori such as at Acacia Bay it is noted that at the end of the 17 century when the chief at Ponui Pā was defeated, his wife escaped by swimming across to Wharewaka Point and Taupo was founded in 1869 as an armed constabulary post.
