The map shows Hastings City from Parkvale to Frimley, Akina to Mayfair, and Havelock North from Anderson Park to Woodford House.
At the top left is an inset of the Hastings Central Business District.
Buildings and features visible on the map are theatres, churches, streets, public telephones as well as the city and borough boundaries. The old course of the Ngaruroro River starts at Longlands and wends it's way through Hastings Road, Karamu under Pakowhai bridge to join the Ngaruroro River. There is an alphabetical index at the bottom of the map.
