About this object
The photograph shows the business centre of Napier taken from the hill looking towards Cape Kidnappers. On the left is the Athenaeum and across Herschell street can be seen the new Hawke's Bay County Council building. The Masonic Hotel is the white building behind the Athenaeum. Both the County Council building and Masonic Hotel were rebuilt after the 3 February 1931 earthquake.

Date, the photograph would have been taken before 1936 when the Hawke's Bay Art Gallery & Museum replaced the Athenaeum.
