The photograph shows Hastings Street, Napier. Evidence of the 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire is still visible. The exterior walls of many of the buildings are all that are left standing. Hannahs shoe shop is the two storied building on the left. The tram line can be seen embedded in the road.
