About this object
The photograph shows Emerson Street, Napier looking towards Marine Parade. There is still evidence present of the devastating earthquake and subsequent fire which occurred on 3 February 1931. The temporary Criterion Bar can be seen in the forefront of the image. New buildings are being erected along the street. The spire of St Patrick's Catholic church is in the distance.
