The photograph shows Marine Parade, Napier, after the 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire. On the left is Dr Moore's Hospital, also known as Upoko Poito. The hospital was badly damaged in the earthquake and had to be demolished. The building on the right is a private residence.
