About this object
The photograph shows Hastings Street, Napier, after the 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire. On the left of the image is the Palmer and Jones painting factory and on the right, the Zenith Transport Company. Both buildings have been badly damaged. The street has been cleared of debris. The tram lines can be seen embedded in the road. A young boy is standing on the footpath.
