About this object
The photograph shows Tennyson Street, Napier, after the 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire. There is still fire smouldering amongst the ruins. Only the exterior walls of the buildings remain standing. Tennyson Street is completely covered with debris. The road in the front of the image has been cleared to allow for vehicle access.
