About this object
The photograph shows the ruin of Blythes Limited which was destroyed in the 3 February 1931 earthquake and subsequent fire. The skeleton of the drapers store, which was located in Emerson Street, stands behind the chimney. In the foreground of the photograph are the remains of a car.
