About this object
The photograph shows the corner of Shakespeare and Hastings Streets, Napier taken after the devastating earthquake and subsequent fire of 3 February 1931. The facades and exterior walls of the buildings are all that are left standing. The roads have been cleared of debris to allow vehicle access. Hannah's building is on the left. The remains of the old Napier Post Office are on the right.
