About this object
The photograph shows Hastings Street, Napier after the devastating earthquake and subsequent fire of 3 February 1931. Only the facades and exterior walls of the commercial buildings have been left standing. The telephone poles remain. The street has been cleared of most of the earthquake debris to allow vehicle access.
