Letters from Mrs B Mitchell, great-great-great niece of William Colenso, 4 Trendeal Gardens, Clarence Street, Penzance, Cornwall, England.
a) A letter from Mrs B Mitchell to Mr L C Gordon of Colenso College Napier, dated 16 February 1969. Mrs B Mitchell writes regarding the study of William Colenso using stamps and philatelic material. She requests a drawing of the Colenso High School badge to accompany a talk she was giving at a congress to the Stamp Study Circle of the New Zealand Society of Great Britain in Bristol.
b) A letter from Mrs B Mitchell to Mr J M Reidy, Principal, Colenso High School, dated 20 May 1969. This letter acknowledges receipt of the school badge design and information. She writes that she was given stamps from Mrs Colenso of Glen Trewithen and that some have the perforations cut off. She believes he cut off them off when he was troubled in his mind and writing to his son Willie. She mentions stamps sent to Tarapex National Stamp Exhibition. She also writes regarding the repayment for ground rent and transfer to Lady Whitmore provided the conditions of the original lease are adhered to; church duties in Woodville; wet weather; death of W Black; rooming at Jones' new hotel near the railway station.
