Brief Description
A sympathy card from Mary Wrigley of Rangitumau to Mrs Manson and family. The front of the card is decorated with blue, red and black flags of New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The flags are crossed at the top and overlaid with the words: For King and Country. In the middle are the words: With Deepest Sympathy, and at the bottom is a black band with a medallion and a rifle and military cap over a laurel wreath. Inside the wreath are the letters: New Zealand. Under the medallion are the words: Pro Patrai Mori.
Inside the card are two lyrical passages, one a short poem on dying nobly and the other words of comfort.
This card is undated but likely dates from 1918, following the death of Percy Manson during World War I.
