Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Percy R Manson.

a) Letter from Trooper Percy Manson to his sister Mabel on 18 August 1916 from Egypt. The letter reads:
Dear May,
Once again I take the pleasure of writing a few lines to you to let you know I received that nice little post card from you. I think it is very good photo all got nice Sunday faces on for the occasion. I have not had my pretty face taken since I have been over here as I have not had time but when I do I will send you one as I am sure you would like one to admire all day long. It would make you feel happy. Well May, I am keeping alright as far as health goes the weather has not changed much still as hot as ever and the nice little flies still fall in your tea for a drink. I suppose you heard that Lou Manson was killed over here he was shot though the head & only lived about twenty minutes after he came over here with me in the tenth reinforcement. I wrote a Post card to Vivie. I wonder if he got it as I expect he is always looking for an answer to his long letter he wrote to Uncle Percy. I hope your farmer husband is keeping well as I am sure he must be having a trying time looking after the young lambs. Did the wet weather kill any. How is Tol(?) boy(?) knee. I expect it is nearly batter now or if it is not it should be as the war will be over before he can get away. Well dear Mabel I think I will have to close now as news is scarce here at present and we have no convenience for writing just sit down in your tent. Hoping this will find you in the best of health as it leaves me.
I am Your loving brother
