Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Percy R Manson. The letter reads:

Egypt.
July 20th 1916
Dear May,
Just a few lines to let you know I received your most welcome letter and that most useful parcel you sent me. I have been without nodal ever since I have been here I suppose. I would have missed my nodal if I had a cold. Well May, I am keeping well over here in spite of the hot weather one thing we get a little peace now. Although it is warmer most of the flies have died now. The weather being too warm for them. I had a letter from Vin the other day and he said they have had fairly wet weather over the other side and he said he had been in hospital with a bad cold. I think little Alf must be over there to now, as I have not seen him for a long time. Of course Alf is stubborn like one of Will’s brothers. Poor old Tikokino I expect before the war is over the place will be deserted if it is not at present. Cairo is a very lively place but the poor Egyptians nearly drive you mad asking for money. We rode down to one of the Egyptian fares(sic) yesterday and it was very funny especially the bullock they killed they don’t have any slaughter houses here they just cut the bullocks throat skin it and sell the meat were(sic) it was killed. By cove they are about the dirtiest race I have ever seen. I am writing this in my tent and the blessed wind is blowing the sand all over me. So I think I will have to close now hoping this will find you in the best of health.
I am
Your loving brother,
Percy R Manson
