Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Percy R Manson.
a) Letter from Trooper Percy Manson to his mother on 2 December 1916 from Egypt. The letter reads:
Dear Mother,
Just a few lines in answer to your most welcome letter which came to hand last week. And also a cake you sent which arrived in the best condition. I also received a paper from Mabel. Well how is things going on in Napier, I hope you are keeping the in best of health. I am still keeping alright the food is a little better & the weather is not near so hot. I suppose you are getting things ready for Christmas now. I don’t think it will make much difference to us. The war news is nothing startling we don’t hear much over here & what we do hear is generally about a week old. What reinforcement is Walter coming in. I expect he has been getting ready. Clive will be the next to come before it is over. He is a bit too young for a couple of years yet. How is Bill getting on farming he will be looking forward to the wool sales now to see what price his wool will be fetching. I met one of the Knapps from Tikokino “Alan? He has not altered much, it is marvellous the chaps you run across here. I am sending you a Christmas Card. The badge on the front is our badge & the photo is a snap one of the boys took at the camp. You will see by the faces that the sun was very hot & we could hardly look at the camera. Well I think I will have to close now. Hoping this will find you in the best of health as it leaves me.
