Brief Description
Letter from Trooper Percy Manson to his mother on 16 November 1916 from El Arish, Egypt.
The letter reads:
Dear Mother,
Just a few lines to let you know that I am still alive and keeping in the best of health & hope you are keeping the same. I received your most welcome letter yesterday & was very pleased to get it. How did the Marde Gras come off. Did you go down to the procession. I am afraid it would be very quiet this year as most of the young fellows have left Napier to come to the war. The weather we have been getting of late has been fairly good. Last night we had some rain and our bivvie kept it out fine. The food has not been so bad lately, we have been getting a stew for tea nearly every evening so that s not so bad. I had a letter from Vin the other day he wishes to be remembered to you & says he has been keeping alright. How is Clive getting on at Raurimu. I suppose he came down for Xmas & rigged himself out in a new suit. I expect he has grown as tall as a lamp post by now. Is Alf & Charlie still down at Te-Ringa. Well I think I will have to close this short note. Hoping it will find you in the best of health as it leaves me.
