Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Percy R Manson

a) Letter from Trooper Percy Manson to his mother written on 1 August 1917 from Palestine. The letter reads:
Dear Mother
Just a few lines to let you know I am still alive and keeping in the best of health & hope you are keeping the same. We have not had NZ mail for about five weeks so I suppose it must of went to England first. One time the mail use to arrive here every fortnight as regular as clockwork but now we never know when it is going to arrive. The weather is still very hot & at times very windy although the wind does not cool the air much as they are mostly these hot winds. I think we are about to leave again so I will probably be cabling for some money. The last money I cabled for arrived alright. The next time I cable I will sign both my Christian & surname so you will no it will be alright. How is the garden getting on. I suppose it is full of weeds. Do you and Tot every have a game of croquet on the lawn. I had a letter from Vin about a fortnight ago. He is still in France and is well on it & wishes to be remembered to you all at home. Well I think this is all the news I have to say this time. Hoping this will find you in the best of health as it leaves me at present.
I am Your loving son
Percy R Manson.
