The H M S Herald anchored in Napier on 23 June 1840 to obtain signatures for the Treaty of Waitangi.
F J Tiffen, run holder, who bought the first sheep to Hawke's Bay from Wellington.
The 65 regiment arriving in Napier, 1858, on account of inter tribal conflict among Māori.
Napier being surveyed by Lt McDonnell R.N, 1834.
