Brief Description
Book, The Barracks Master's Book, Napier Barracks, 1873.
When immigration passengers arrived at Napier they stayed at the Immigration Barracks which were originally the Military Barracks on Napier Hill. The barracks were located across the road from the Botanical Gardens.
The Barrack's Masters' Book names the immigrants, their ages, defines each as either an adult or child, country they had set sail from, occupation, name of employer in Hawke's Bay, residence in Hawke's Bay, rate of wages, date of arrival to the barracks, date of leaving the barracks and any remarks.
