Brief Description
The Bestalls Limited testimonial gives a brief overview of the history of the business.

The text records that the business opened as Bestall and Griffin in April 1908. It was a drapery firm. The partners were Richard Bestall and Frank Griffin. Frank died in the influenza epidemic of 1918. In 1920 Leo Bestall joined the firm and in 1926 it became a Limited Liability Company under the name of Bestalls Ltd. In the 3 February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake the shop was destroyed and two members of staff lost their lives. The firm moved to Tin Town, Clive Square, Napier and re-built in Hastings Street.
