A charcoal drawing by Rona Lawrence, titled: Earthquake Memories, number 1, The Transfer from SS Northumberland to Ruapehu on Trawlers.
This drawing depicts the captain and the view from the deck of the SS Northumberland. Two smaller vessels are making their way to the SS Ruapehu. Bluff Hill can be seen in the distance with two fires, highlighted in red, burning on either side of the hill. The drawing depicts the evacuation of people from Napier via the Freighter SS Northumberland to the SS Ruapehu. In the distance is the smoke from fires which burned in Napier for over 30 hours.
