Brief Description
Order to Supply Book by the Napier Borough Council used during the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay Earthquake, 1931. Issued as part of the Earthquake Relief Committee Transport Department.
The Order to Supply book was originally a License to Drive Motor Vehicle permit book. The permit book has been recycled and the backs of the pages used for its purpose during the earthquake, as an order to supply book. Most of the orders are for the supply of petrol or benzine for various earthquake related departments and each is noted as being charged to the New Zealand Government. The dates range from 9 to 13 February 1931. Approximately one quarter of the book is unused.
