Brief Description
Two order books by the Napier Borough Council used during the aftermath of the Napier Earthquake in 1931 and issued by the Earthquake Relief Committee Transport Department.
The books are by issue of the Town Clerk, Borough of Napier. They include perforated stub sections for orders for goods. There is a blank section where to whom the goods should be supplied is handwritten, and further space for the description of goods ordered. The types of goods listed includes: fuel, asphalt, lamp posts, washers, bitumen, car, truck and motorcycle repairs, tyres, and tube repairs.
a) Order book for transport supplies dated 11 to 15 February 1931. Numbers are 403 to 600. The book is only partially used up to number 459.
b) Order book for transport supplies dated 13 February. Numbers are 201 to 400. The book is only partially used up to number 280.
Both books printed by Ball and Company.
