Brief Description
Eight letters written by William Colenso to W W Yates (photocopied):
a) A letter written by William Colenso to W W Yates, addressed and dated Napier, 8 November 1886. The letter concerns Lumbago (lower back pain). William Colenso states that he is unable to participate in the exhibition.
b) A letter written by William Colenso to W W Yates, addressed and dated Tuesday 17 January 1888. The letter concerns the Milk Thistle, Ladys' Thistle, and Holy Thistle plant specimens that he had received in the mail.
c) A letter written by William Colenso to W W Yates, addressed and dated Napier, 8 February 1889. The letter concerns a trip to the bush and a St John's Wort plant specimen that he had received in the mail.
d) A letter written by William Colenso to W W Yates, addressed and dated Dannevirke, 7 April 1892. The letter concerns a blight insect specimen that he had received in the mail.
e) A letter written by William Colenso to W W Yates, addressed and dated Dannevirke, 20 April 1892. The letter concerns a blight insect specimen received in the mail the he forwarded to colleague in Wellington, who identified it as belonging to the Aphis genus. He recommends chrysanthemums be drenched in soap suds and tobacco water to combat the insect.
