Contents:

3. Paper titled: Colenso - The Man, prepared and read by Aileen M Andersen, MBE, Hawke's Bay and East Coast Art Society, Napier, New Zealand.
Includes mention of a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Art Society held on 7 November 1861 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of William Colenso; Exhibition in the Holt Gallery of Documents and other Colenso relics lent by Dr R Cooper, Botanist at the Auckland Museum and Institute, Colenso High School, Napier, and the museum collection; Exhibition of Early Watercolours in the Art Gallery; The Programme - events from the meeting, including the presentation of Colenso - The Man; acknowledgment of the work done by Miss Andersen.

Includes information about William Colenso's early life, work in Paihia, journeys around New Zealand, life as a travelling missionary, trade, and land purchases. It also includes information on the Mechanics Institute at the Atheaneum, the New Zealand Institute, the Hawke's Bay Branch of the Philosophical Institute; his role as Inspector of the Common and Private Schools under the Provincial Council and Fellow of the Royal Society; and interests in fauna, philology and philanthropy.
Glued to the inside of the back cover is a copy of the minutes of the meeting, similar to b) minus the contents page.

Glued to the inside of the front cover are two newspaper clippings, one titled: Colenso display at Napier, hand dated 4 November 1963 and the second an advertisement of the upcoming meeting, open to the public, of the Hawke's Bay Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Art Society, hand dated 7 November 1961.
