Brief Description
Four letter books by the Napier Citizens' Control Committee containing building inspector reports associated with the reconstruction of dwellings following the earthquake of 1931, issued by the Napier Citizen's Control Committee.
Handwritten information includes: date, dwelling owner's name, application number, address, summary of damage and summary of repairs including chimneys and plumbing, summary of cost, signature of building inspector and status of repair work (at the time of the report some repair work was completed, whereas at other dwellings the work was still proceeding. In some instances the drains were repaired and this was reflected in the status also). Each handwritten letter begins with the anagram L R F A.
