Brief Description
Rubbings of inscriptions on wooden tombstones (Regimental) in Napier Cemetery by Royden Newman.

a) Information regarding British Regiments in Hawke’s Bay.

b) Inscription entitled: Sacred to the Memory of William Farrell. Served 2 Battery 14 Regiment who departed this life 6 July 1864, aged 37 years. Erected to his Memory by His Brother Sergeants as a Memento of Respect and Esteem. Original is carved into a totara headstone.

c) Inscription entitled: Sacred to the Memory of Thomas Stanley Number 1 Company, 14 Regiment Who Departed this Life 30 August 1864, Aged 36 years. Original is painted onto a totara headstone.

d) Inscription entitled: Sacred to the Memory of Thomas Mason Number 1 Company HM 14 Regiment who departed this life 21 August 1866. Aged 21 years and 10 months. (1866 in the Old Napier Cemetery book). Original is painted in white on a totara headstone.

e) Inscription entitled: In memory of Thomas Collins Late HM 65 Regiment. Died 6 August 1873. Aged 28 Years. I will go to him but he will not return to me. Original is carved into a totara headstone.
