[66148](1)(2) – Leaflet
To the congregation of the Church;
To the laymen who take Communion;
Some words of rememberance for you all.
Friends, I must disclose to you all the vices that you must refrain from during the time of Holy Communion: They are:
1. Work. Wether it be a horse-racing, a canoe, boat, man or woman.
2. Play cards or gossip.
3. Blasphemy, swear in the English language.
4. Drink rum or any substance that may render you drunk.
5. Ride a horse on a Sunday for the sake of riding.
6. Ride a horse from one house to another without any cause or reason.
7. Complete business transactions with Pākehā.
8. Not attending Sunday school or having Sunday afternoon prayers.
9. Parents not escorting their baptized children to Sunday school.
10. Oppress the voiceless, the sick, widows, elderly, and the bereaved.
The congregation must adhere to the rules concerning work, playing cards, and gossiping. Wether a worker, an observer or a supporter. The layman of each household will ensure that the believers reject these wrong-doings.
These words are from the gathering. This is what you should say; Look at your works and your direction. Are they in line with the laws of God or not? When you see wrong-doing somewhere, covetness , lying, cry for your sins and call out for Almighty God to holdfast your heart to do good works from now onwards. If there should be amongst you beguilers, liars, adulterers, haters, jealousy, or any other naughty works, I say to you, repent for your sins. If you do not, then do not come to this holy table. ( From the instructions of Communion).The following are from the holy Scriptures:
“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup”. 1Corinthians, 11.28.
“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: you cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table and of the table of devils”. 1Corinthians, 10.21.
“If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches. And if you have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?” Ruka, 16.11,12.
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be seperate, said the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, said the Lord Almighty”.
2 Corinthians, 6.17,18.
