Brief Description
This is a soft-cover bound notebook with pages of empty lined paper. It is undated, though likely dates from either the Boer War or World War I. On the front is printed Army Book 136 and above is the signature of W H Jones. On the cover, though very faded, are handwritten and ornate initials: W H J.
This notebook has been used as an exercise book to practice and learn the Māori language. Many of the pages are filled with vocabulary in Māori with the English translation. There are also Biblical passages in both Māori and English.
