A brief typescript memoir written by Keith Loye of his experiences as a schoolboy in Waipukurau during World War II. Written in 2002.
Loye discusses issues such as: food; rationing; home guards; the Americans and war planes visiting Waipukurau; farming; the images of soldiers missing or wounded in the weekly newspaper; and children's celebrations of Victory in Europe day and Victory over Japan day; the telephone system; etcetera. He also makes note, very briefly, of a couple of his experiences in the New Zealand Army in the early 1950s.
