About this object
Watercolour on paper depicting a meeting of Europeans and Māori from Hawke's Bay to discuss the Treaty. Several key figures are identified in the painting including: Sir Donald McLean, Chief Porokuru, Te Hāpuku and Tārehā Te Moananui. There are a number of Māori chiefs, Māori women and lady visitors present. Huts and stockade posts/pou can be seen in the background. In the foreground are pots used to prepare a feast.
