Brief Description
(a) Surgeon's Requisition Book from the Halcione. The half page remaining in the book is titled Surgeon's Requisition on the Captain for Stout, Wine, or Brandy. Dates range from 27 March 1874 to 5 July 1874. Lists the names of some patients. Most requests note the illness or symptom the spirit is for. The quantity of each spirit requested is written in the appropriate columns. Pages are signed by the Captain and the Surgeon-Superintendent.
(b) Inside the book is a small white envelope addressed to Mr Fox, the Immigration Officer at Napier. It is stamped: Returned Letter, from the Gisborne Post Office. On the reverse are two postmarks, one from Napier with an illegible date, the other from Gisborne dated 14 January.
