Brief Description
(a) Account book. The pages of the account book are labelled: Particulars of bills or Promissory Notes received during the Month; and: Cash received in respect of Bills or Promissory Notes during the Month. The cover indicates that records commenced in the year 1878. Glued inside the cover page is a statement of total account dated 4 November 1885 to 9 February 1887. Dates are non-consecutive and start on November 1 1876, finishing in December 1888. There is also a page in the front of the book with crossed out entries during 1872 and 1873. The particulars page includes spaces for: Rotation number; Date; Drawer/Name of Immigrant; Acceptor or Ship; Due date; Amount. The cash received page includes spaces for: date; number of bill; name of payee; amount. At the bottom of each page is a balance carried forward.

(b) Statement of Promissory Notes and Bills in hands of Immigration Officer Napier. Each page includes two columns of: the number (non-consecutive); and the amount. There is a final column for notes. The Document is undated, but notes on the reverse of three of the pages have dates. These notes are: 1. List of Bills and Notes Remaining on 16 July 1883. This list includes two columns of: date; number of bill; first and surnames of immigrant; ship; and amount. 2. Bills Forwarded to Treasury 23 May 1884. This list includes two columns of: number of bill; surname; amount; and ship. 3. Obsolete Bills forwarded to Treasury 4 November 1885. It includes one column of: Bill number; first initial and surname; amount and ship. It also includes a column titled Bills retained, which includes: Bill number; first initial and surname; amount and ship.

(c) Schedule of Immigrants Bills and Promissory Notes, Napier, November 1882. Includes: bill number; date; drawer; amount due; name of vessel; and remarks.
