Brief Description
Undated book listing applications made to the Immigration Office at Napier for servants arriving on a variety of ships. Categories to be filled include: the first name and surname of the applicant; the address of the applicant; rate of wages; name of person engaged; number in barrack master's register; and remarks. Among the ships referred to in the book are: British King; Ionic; Westland; Rangitikei; Adamant; City of Auckland; Renfrewshire; and Fernglen. While the book is undated, these ships arrived in Hawke's Bay primarily in the 1870s and 1880s.
Also in the book is a loose sheet entitled: et Ionic, possible dated 1883. It includes a list of women's names, with their age and remarks.
