Pencil sketch of Turanga (now called Gisborne) and the mouth of the Turanganui River. Settler buildings and a wharf are visible on the left below Kaiti Hill. On the right is a Māori pā with a large number of people on the shore. A single figure is paddling a waka across the river to the pā. Signed. Dated.
