About this object
A nautical map of the New Hebrides, New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands compiled from French imperial surveys 1855 - 1879, Captain Denham's survey of 1853 - 56, Messrs T Kerr & T C Tilley of the mission schooner - Southern Cross 1861 - 70, Lieutenant A M Field and the officers of the HMS Dart - 1886.
This shows little pass, Belep Island, St Vincent Bay, Torch Bank in New Caledonia, Chabroll Island, Mare Island, Banks Islands, Torres Island, Apii and Espiritu Santo Island of the New Hebrides.
Depth soundings are shown in fathoms and the magnetic variation of º925'E, noting that the magnetic variation in 1881 was nearly stationary.
