Four copies of the News Bulletin issued by the Daily Telegraph and Hawke's Bay Herald with the co-operation of Messrs Ball and Company and Messrs Swailes and Company at Napier on February 4, 1931. The bulletins report on the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931.

a-d) News Bulletin, February 4, 1931. Headlines report the catastrophe, earthquake and fire with many fatalities. In Hastings many people were trapped and a Death Roll lists the names of those killed to date. There is also a list of those injured. The Earthquake Relief Napier lists members of the Executive Committee who assumed responsibility for setting up committees for sanitation and water, demolition and safety, food distribution, shelter, communication, medical, a minister's committee of religion and social work, and the police in conjunction with naval parties assumed responsibility for public movement and attending to the recovery and burial of bodies. General news tells of inquests, identification and burial of the dead; evacuations and supplies. Requests are made to conserve water.
