(1) Disastrous Earthquake: Wairoa in ruins - Three killed, many more injured, Citizens Relief Committee formed.
Sub headlines are: Sympathy; Killed and Injured; Water available; Strenuous Time for Teachers; the local schools have been closed until further notice; Relief committee formed; Local Meat Works and Dairy Factory. Napier and Hastings in Ruins, Tremendous loss of Life, Napier Business Area Demolished, Town Reported under Martial Law.

There are three advertisements in the paper relating to: Yeaston Tablets for boils, gastritis and fermentation in the stomach by E Bayliss from J R Gillespie, Chemist.

(2) Mercy Dash to Napier Recalled.
A dash down the coast in the motor vessel Karoro as a mercy trip to assist distressed sufferers in the Napier earthquake, which occurred 41 years ago today, is recalled by the then master of the vessel, Captain A P Thomson, of Gisborne.
