Brief Description
Booklet entitled: Napier, Before and After, the Earthquake of February 3, 1931.

This is a comparative study of Napier using photographs from before and after the 3 February 1931 earthquake. There are seventeen photos in total, including views of: Napier on fire taken at 4pm on 3 February 1931 by L I Jones on board the Sailing Ship Waipiata; Hastings street - the before image shows a tram; Tennyson Street - one shows sailors coming off duty from relief work; St John's the Anglican Cathedral; Napier Technical College; General view of Napier Town; Napier Nurses' Home; Clive Square; Port Ahuriri and Westshore showing how many places are now dry land that were previously covered by water due to the rise in the levels of the land during the earthquake; Education Board Offices showing how parked cars were damaged by debris from the buildings and then destroyed by fire.
