Brief Description
An illuminated page copied from a 14th Century Spanish manuscript written in Latin. The text is from the Bible, the Book of John Chapter 1 Verses 1-3.

A Māori boy called Pekah did the writing and illumination. On the back of the sheet there are several comments commending the calibre of his work.

On the reverse is written the following:

Beautiful - such work deserves the highest praise. R. 7
Evidently not the first piece of work of this sort Pekah has done. The freedom of the pen work is admirable and I should like to know how he does the text. ZAI [ For this particular hand Mitchell's EB 0135 is a good pen. ]
