Brief Description
Official Souvenir Programme of the celebrations held to mark the proclamation of Napier as a City, March 18-25, 1950, held jointly with celebrations commemorating the 75th Jubilee of the Borough of Napier. The celebrations were organised by the Napier Development Association and the programme lists: Mayors of Napier, Inaugural Napier City Council members and Napier City and Jubilee Celebrations Executive Committee members. It features messages of goodwill and a brief history of the city. It includes the programme for the official ceremony, held at McLean Park on March 18th, 1950 and a programme of events to be held between March 18th to March 25th, 1950. Also included are articles on tourism, beauty spots, development and expansion, industry, and the Port of Napier. The cover features a colour image of Marine Parade gardens and the Soundshell.
