Brief Description
A book entitled: Sketches in New Zealand with Pen and Pencil, from a journal kept by W Tyrone Power from July 1846 to June 1848.
The author discusses military disturbances in the Hutt, Porirua and Wanganui districts, whaling, Māori, settlers, land sales, missionaries and the murder of the Gilfillan family. In the last six chapters he records leaving New Zealand and visiting various countries including Sydney and Cairo.
Interspersed throughout the book are ten tinted lithographs.
