A book by Alexander Marjoribanks: Travels in New Zealand.
In October 1839, Alexander Marjoribanks set sail for Port Nicholson from Glasgow aboard the Bengal Merchant. This book provides a personal account of early settlements in New Zealand, Māori and the Wairau massacre. Included in the appendix is an account of the interview between Governor Fitzroy and Te Rauparaha following the Wairau massacre.
There is also a map on which the North and South Islands are labelled North and South Durham, Northern Island or New Ulster, Middle Island or New Munster and Southern Island or New Leinster.
