Brief Description
Book by Lieutenant-Colonel G Le M Gretton entitled: The Campaigns and History of the Royal Irish Regiment from 1684 to 1902. Published in 1911 by William Blackwood and Sons.

During the period covered by this history, the Royal Irish Regiment fought in Europe, Asia, Africa, America and in Australasia. Includes a comprehensive list and description of battles and campaigns.

The appendices include a calendar of the Regiment's moves from 1685 to 1902 including location of peacetime stations and a casualty roll giving names of officers and soldiers killed, died of wounds or disease and wounded in every campaign or battle from 1690 onwards. Includes a list of major awards, including three Victoria Crosses, and a list of colonels in charge of the Regiment.

There is also a descriptive list of memorials of the Regiment, noting to whom they are dedicated with any inscriptions and names. Includes a lengthy index.
