Hawke's Bay Fossil Expert's Fame Spreads. Quantum reporter and presenter Karina Kelly on the left, and Haumoana's Joan Wiffen discuss a juvenile plesiosaur marine reptile fossil. The plesiosaur lived in the coastal waters east of New Zealand 65 to 70 million years ago.
Joan Wiffen is becoming internationally recognised for her discoveries of dinosaur bones and other fossils at Te Hoe Valley in north-west Hawke's Bay. The Quantum Australian science programme film crew is in New Zealand and will visit and film other discoveries in New Zealand also.
