The Manga O'Hara Stream acts as a boundary as does the road from Porangahau. Waipukurau is situated on the Main Line - Napier to Wellington - and is 44 miles from Napier and 167 from Wellington. There is a population of about 800 people in the Town Board area and 1,250 in the Waipukurau Riding in the County area.
