Brief Description
Map, Braeburn Estate. The map was printed in association with a public auction held by de Pelichet, McLeod and Company Limited, Auctioneers, at the Town Hall, Waipukurau, on Friday 15 December 1911 at 2 pm. The site belonged to the estate of John White.
There are two sides to the plan. The first side shows a map of the Mangaorapa number 1 and another map shows the Tahu Block, Mrs White's property, Sand Hills Block, Oat's Block, Homestead Block, Race Course Block, Hill Block, Halls Block, Georges Block, Hirtzells Block, Porongahau Township, Mrs Dora's House, Bull Block, the Parsonage, F White's residence and stables, Miss Lambert, E White's residence, J Healey's property, and P Brough. The site is bounded by George Hunter's estate.
The other side has a plan of Porangahau Town Sections. It shows Collingwood Street, Blake Street, Dundas Street, Keppel Street, Franklin Street, Moore Street, Abercrombie Street, Graham Street, Picton Street, Anglican Church, Public School, Public Hall, Post Office, Police Station, Hotel, the smithy, the store, the Porongahau Bridge and River. (Note Porangahau is spelt two different ways.)
A newspaper clipping is attached giving the names of those who have purchased land.
